AGENDA OVERVIEW

Securing nursing’s future by engaging the multigenerational workforce
Presented by: HealthLeaders
Sponsored by: Lippincott® Solutions, a Wolters Kluwer Company
10:00 - 11:00 AM EST

About the Session:

The nursing workforce is the greatest asset of healthcare organizations. Everyone anticipated when baby-boomer nurses began to retire, there would be a deficit in practice wisdom, and experience. Then came the pandemic and reality has changed. Younger nurses are leaving the profession. The latest workforce research reveals that the largest reduction in the workforce is among the millennial nurses. In addition, up to 30% of graduate nurses, many of who are generation Z, leave within the first year because of a lack of support. Healthcare organizations need to implement workforce strategies that directly address the needs of the generations.

There is no doubt that frontline healthcare workers are experiencing mental health crises. Fortunately, some hospitals and health systems are addressing the problem in various ways. Additionally, the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act, which earmarks funding to provide mental health wellness to frontline workers, recently was made into law. This roundtable will look at ways hospitals and health systems are responding to, or can respond to, mental and behavioral health crises that their employees are experiencing.
