AGENDA OVERVIEW

How the National Supply Chain Crisis Changed the Equation for Nearshoring and Onshoring
Presented by: HealthLeaders
10:00 - 11:05 AM EST

About the Session:

Since the pandemic began, there’s been an increased focus on the need to nearshore or onshore some critical raw materials and finished products. The PPE crisis is over, but healthcare supply chains are now playing whack-a-mole with other needed items, whether ensuring continued mask and glove supply or securing enough generic medications.

Panelists -
Dan Hurry, Chief Supply Chain Officer, President Bon Secours Mercy Health, Advantus Health Partner
Deborah Abrams Kaplan, Supply Chain Contributing Editor, HealthLeaders

Using Data and Technology to Improve the Healthcare Supply Chain
Presented by: HealthLeaders
11:10 - 12:10 PM EST

About the Session:

The nursing workforce is the greatest asset of healthcare organizations. Everyone anticipated when baby-boomer nurses began to retire, there would be a deficit in practice wisdom, and experience. Then came the pandemic and reality has changed. Younger nurses are leaving the profession. The latest workforce research reveals that the largest reduction in the workforce is among the millennial nurses. In addition, up to 30% of graduate nurses, many of who are generation Z, leave within the first year because of a lack of support. Healthcare organizations need to implement workforce strategies that directly address the needs of the generations.

Panelists:
Roopa McNealis, Administrative Director Supply Chain Systems and Analytics, Stanford Health Care

Deborah Abrams Kaplan, Supply Chain Contributing Editor, HealthLeaders

How Healthcare Systems are Improving Diversity and Inclusion Efforts in the Supply Chain
Presented by: HealthLeaders
12:15 - 1:15 PM EST

About the Session:

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are hot topics inside and outside of healthcare. DEI matters because healthcare organizations serve all people, and health systems are integrated into the communities they serve. Employees and patients want to see themselves represented as suppliers, and health organizations have the ability to bring money and jobs into the community by supporting diverse and inclusive businesses. Supply chain departments are not always set up to identify and attract these businesses, though, and in a busy environment, it is often easier to go with known entities.

Panelist:
Chris Torres, System Vice President Supply Chain Management, Main Line Health

Bill Moir, SVP Supply Chain, Henry Ford Health
Deborah Abrams Kaplan, Supply Chain Contributing Editor, HealthLeaders
