AGENDA OVERVIEW

Improving Nursing Home Surveying

Presented by: Healthleaders

11:10 AM - 12:10 PM EDT

Session Overview:

Not implementing surveys of resident and family satisfaction and experience in nursing homes prevents nursing home residents and families from providing feedback about their care experiences, according to The National Imperative to Improve Nursing Home Quality: Honoring Our Commitment to Residents, Families, and Staff (2022)

Lack of surveys also disadvantages nursing homes by not having consumer reports of their experiences to improve services and care delivery. While many nursing home administrators report using resident satisfaction surveys, and satisfaction information is reported as being useful, the surveys being used vary widely and may not be adequately validated.

Creating a Culture of Care to Recruit, Engage, and Retain Staff

Presented by: Healthleaders

12:15 PM - 1:15 PM EDT

Session Overview:

Turnover rates in long-term care range from 55% to 75% for nurses and aides and sometimes more than 100% for aides alone, so it’s not surprising that retaining good workers can be one of the most challenging parts of running a skilled nursing facility.

Create a culture of care in your agency by providing fair compensation, taking steps to improve job satisfaction, warding off burnout, broadening career paths, and providing training over and above minimum standards. Such a culture can attract, engage, strengthen, and keep new talent.
